I always dreamed that one day I’d become an astronaut and fly to the moon. Okay, the astronaut part didn’t quite work out. So instead, I fly to the moon in my imagination and create illustrated worlds and characters. Always by my side is my four-legged companion Jadda, who sometimes pulls me out of my bubble and makes me put the pencil down for a while. Oh, and I love doing all of this with a good, freshly brewed espresso nearby. Because really, nothing beats a great espresso.

After more than 30 years in the communications industry, working my way from graphic designer to project manager, I’ve had the chance to work with well-known clients and creative agencies and get an inside look at all kinds of brands and products. Now I’ve decided to turn my hobby and passion for illustration into what I do full-time and pick up the pencil again.

And I’m doing that at a time when AI-generated images are everywhere?
Yes, exactly because of that. Because I believe in the creative spirit that AI can’t replace, and in the love for the little details. I don’t see AI as competition, but more as a challenge. And being pretty ambitious, I’m more than happy to step into the ring.

Today, I create illustrated worlds for books, editorial projects and selected brand collaborations, alongside running my creative studio satōru.
