John Alonso is an illustrator and visual storyteller based in Zurich. His work focuses on characters, narrative worlds and conceptual illustration.

He is drawn to quiet moments, subtle tension and the small details that often go unnoticed. His illustrations explore the space between familiarity and strangeness, creating worlds that invite curiosity and reflection.

After more than three decades in the creative industry working in branding and communication, he returned to drawing as a central part of his practice. Today, illustration is not just a medium, but a way of thinking and seeing.

All work is drawn by hand, allowing space for imperfection, texture and intuition. In a time shaped by speed and automation, this approach reflects a conscious decision to work with care and intention.

John develops illustrations for books, editorial projects and selected brand collaborations. He also runs the creative studio satōru.
